In the presence of his Excellency the President of the Republic of Kenya Dr. William Samoei Ruto, the Kelvin Kiptum Foundation was officially launched last weekend in Kaptagat.
The official inauguration took place at the Kaptagat Forest Run, nearby the late Kelvin Kiptum’s hometown and training grounds, with a field of top runners participating.
The objective of the foundation is to support the family of Kelvin and the broader community. The foundation will also keep the remembrance of the legendary marathoner and world record holder vivid for decades to come.
The government of Kenya made a first donation of 5 million KES (Kenyan Schilling, appr. 40,000 USD). Golazo as the co-founder of the foundation made a first contribution through the Rotterdam Marathon of 8 million KES (over 60,000 USD).
